Guitar Lessons in Hickory, NC - Youth through Adults
My teaching studio is a quiet and comfortable environment in my home, located in a very safe residential neighborhood in northwest Hickory. In my studio you will never be distracted by the sounds of loud instruments playing in adjacent rooms during your lesson. I offer competitively priced lesson fees and provide personalized instruction.
My specialties are classical and fingerstyle guitar repertoire, and traditional Celtic music. I have also performed in rock, jazz, and traditional music groups. After earning my degree in classical guitar performance, I completed Suzuki guitar teacher training courses for books 1-5 and am a registered Suzuki teacher through the Suzuki Association of the Americas.
While performing regularly with the Celtic band Gaelwynd (2001-2007) we recorded and released the CDs "Out on the Ocean" and "Northern Lights". I recorded with Susan Vincent Sherlock and played guitar on her Hammered Dulcimer CD entitled "Wateree". A new CD of my own guitar compositions will be recorded and released within the coming year. I continue to enjoy performing!
I feel fortunate to have had wonderful instructors during many years of study and to have been able to attend many concerts and masterclasses by some of the best concert guitarists. I very much enjoy teaching and passing on what I have learned to my students and helping them succeed in learning to play guitar!
