Guitar Lessons in Hickory, NC - Youth Through Adults

Learning to play an instrument well is beneficial in many ways:  increased confidence, self-esteem, discipline, and increased understanding of the relationship between small steps toward goals and success in achieving them.  Music is fun and great for your brain!  Studies have consistently shown positive effects on brain development in young children who play a musical instrument.  Students who develop proficiency in playing a musical instrument tend to be high achievers in their schoolwork.   Therefore, investing in music lessons is helping your child to develop their potential.

 

I am a guitar teacher and active performer living in Hickory, NC.   My goal as a teacher is to make learning guitar an enjoyable experience for my students.   In addition to teaching, I  perform solo guitar concerts and can provide guitar music for special occasions. 

 

I teach younger students using the Suzuki approach to learning.   A parent is required to attend all lessons and learn how to help guide their child's practice sessions at home.   

 

For youth and adult students I customize the lessons and help the student define and achieve their specific goals.

Adult students are welcome in my studio:  For adult or advanced students I offer: basic and advanced guitar skills, including classical guitar repertoire, fingerstyle guitar, folk music, accompaniment of Celtic tunes using DADGAD tuning, understanding chord construction, or learning to create solos over jazz chord changes.
